Girl Scout Troop 70201 Plant Milkweed at Chico Office

Last spring, Girl Scout Troop 70201 chose us from a list of local non-profits to complete their “Giving Back Badge.” To help receive their badges, they spent a few hours on a Friday at our Chico office planting narrowleaf milkweed (Asclepias fascicularis) and showy milkweed (Asclepias speciosa). Milkweed is an important host plant and nectar source for the Monarch butterfly. The loss of milkweed across America has contributed to Monarch populations declining more than 80% over the past 20 years.

The troop also generously donated a portion of their cookie sale proceeds to support River Partners’ work.

We appreciate their hard work and their wonderful donation!
